Characterized by heavy winds, hailstones, and low rainfall left many locals worried. This is one of the worst disasters affecting dwellers in different communities, and they anticipate a severe food shortage in the coming months.
Yesterday, our delivery guy at JFM moved around the villages affected by the rain storms and supplied food to those hardest hit. We found one elderly woman who was so hungry she was eating raw white ants – a sign of impending famine. The children were also eating raw jackfruit, which symbolizes a lack of food. Usually, at 2 pm every day, every home has a fire in their fireplace for cooking. However, we found many homes where the fireplaces were empty. This is a dire situation, and we are doing everything we can to help those in need.
