Hundreds of people living at this landing site were displaced from their homes due to covid and relentless lockdowns. Unfortunately, It seems that there is not much of a long-term solution in sight. The locals dwelling in the area are worried about the increasing population; it seems everyone evicted runs to this area, which has affected the social well-being of the people fighting for the few resources available. With limited resources to deal with the situation, locals are in fear because of congestion. In such camps, you find one family with six children, which is a high number for a small house to accommodate them, and then to top it off, it is a miracle for them to afford more than one meal per day.
JFM has spotted such camps and has been a partial problem solver by giving out free food and the Good News of Christ. In such times JFM comes in with a solution to give hope by boosting the livelihood of hungry people especially uplifting the status of children, at least for a day or two.
When we visited, many of the kids followed to get something to eat, which symbolizes the difficulties of gaining access to food. Then, they all gathered, hoping to be served, including some mature people.
It’s not in our culture to have one meal per day in some families but rather caused by the lack of food in situations like this; in a small but effective way, JFM helps those in such hardships by putting smiles on unhappy kids’ faces.
You can donate $33 to feed a family today and give them hope that Jesus cares about them. We know many people with similar challenges, but we do what we can to provide them with hope, if only for a day.
