In the humble community of Buto, we met an extraordinary woman who has lived for over a century, Florence, aged 102. (I think she may not be that old, but this is what she stated). Despite her age, Florence remains strong. To our surprise, we found her washing utensils. She spoke with a clear and dignified voice, a testament to her enduring spirit. However, like many who have walked this earth for as long as she has, Florence has faced challenges. The years have taken a toll on her hearing, and she needs someone close to her to hear them speak. Her world has grown quieter over the decades, a fact that has made her life increasingly difficult.
In the bustling village of Buto, Florence’s plight is often overlooked. She lives a lonely and miserable life. It is heart-wrenching to see that no one cares for the elderly, and people usually pass by without offering the assistance they need. JFM was moved by her situation and decided to lend a helping hand. We provided her with food and prayed with her. During these moments of prayer and conversation, we discovered that Florence had never heard the name of Jesus. We shared the gospel with her, opening a new chapter in her life.
