Loving is caring
When people worldwide hear about Uganda, many often think of its beautiful landscapes, abundant wildlife, and rich cultural heritage. Some might recall the rolling green hills, the shores of Lake Victoria, or the majestic gorillas in the mountains. Others may think of Uganda’s history—its struggles and triumphs—and the strength of its people who have overcome much adversity. While Uganda is a land full of natural beauty and vibrant traditions, many who have not visited might only see it through the lens of poverty or hardship, missing the deeper story of hope and resilience that defines the nation.
When I hear about Uganda, I think of people who are incredibly humble and welcoming. There is a simplicity in their way of life that reflects a more profound joy and contentment, even amid difficult circumstances. The smiles of children playing in the fields, the faithful gathering to worship under open skies, and the kindness of strangers offering what little they have—all these paint a picture of a people rich in spirit. Uganda is a country where hospitality is offered freely, and strong community bonds are part of everyday life. Yet, it is crucial to understand that Uganda is diverse, like any other nation. While many are humble and kind, others may carry different attitudes shaped by their experiences and circumstances.
Uganda has a large population of poor people, many living without reliable access to food, clean water, and healthcare. Poverty is a visible reality, weighing heavily on the hearts of many who seek to make a difference. But alongside the poor, some are more privileged, living in comfortable homes and enjoying opportunities that others can only dream of. Uganda, like any society, holds a wide range of social classes. The majority, however, remains among the poor, and their daily struggle reminds them of the urgent need for compassion, generosity, and action.
JesusFedMe.com (JFM) brings a clear and hopeful perspective to Uganda. Rather than focusing only on the struggles, JFM sees the people—the souls—dearly loved by God. In Uganda, JFM meets the humble and the hurting with food for the body and the gospel for the soul. Every day, JFM serves meals and a message: that there is hope, salvation, and new life through Jesus Christ. Through this mission, JFM reveals the true heart of Uganda—not just a land of poverty or need, but a land of potential, filled with people who, when given love and truth, can rise up and shine for the glory of God.
