Local people gather at the JFM serving point
…written by Dr. William Kirembwe, JFM Doctor
It was a hectic day today like I have never seen. JFM’s serving point was overwhelmed by a mass of people, everyone wanting to receive something; we were forced to divide the little we went with so everyone could get something. Our main target was young girls in menarche who have been struggling with sanitary items like pads, soap, sanitary toilet tissue, etc.; in addition, we gave out gospel tracts and food to that age group. Unfortunately, adult men and women flooded the serving point, claiming they also wanted food to save their starving families. Some were aggressive, some wanted to steal the items because they couldn’t stand missing out, and others were grateful.
Sometimes we wish to help everyone, but that is impossible! So, we do what we can. We try to be the best help we can to those we reach out to.
We managed to teach these young girls their role as far as sanitation and personal hygiene are concerned; we brought hope to them and encouraged all of them. Some had never seen sanitary pads, and some didn’t know how to use them because they were using old cloths to cover monthly bleeding, which could predispose them to urinary tract infections endangering their lives, and were taught how to dispose of them. As JFM, we preach the gospel to a healthy community!
Thank you so much, our dear donors; thank you, JesusFedMe, for the great work transforming communities in Uganda!
