Our fasting at JFM is not just about staying away from food—it is about becoming the answer to someone else’s hunger. We believe fasting is not complete when our stomachs are empty but the poor around us remain hungry. True fasting moves beyond ourselves and reaches the broken, the forgotten, and the needy.
The Bible teaches this clearly in Book of Isaiah 58:6–7, where God describes the kind of fasting He has chosen—to loose the bonds of wickedness, to care for the oppressed, and to share our bread with the hungry. This is the fast we carry in our hearts at JFM. We do not just pray; we act. We do not just speak; we give.
Every time we step out to feed the poor, we are living out the heart of Jesus. In Gospel of Matthew 25:35, Jesus says, “I was hungry and you gave me food.” When we place food into the hands of the poor, we are serving Christ Himself. That is the revelation that drives us forward every day.
At JFM, fasting means sacrifice with purpose. The food we could have eaten becomes a blessing to someone who had nothing. The time we could have spent on ourselves becomes a moment of prayer and love for others. This is not religion—it is compassion in action.
We have seen lives change through this kind of fasting. The weak are strengthened, the hopeless find hope, and hearts are opened to receive the gospel. When people see love in action, they begin to understand that God truly cares for them. Food becomes more than a meal—it becomes a message.
This is our calling: to fast in a way that pleases God, to give in a way that reflects His love, and to serve in a way that reveals Jesus. At JFM, our fasting is not empty—it feeds the poor, lifts the broken, and brings glory to God.
