JFM was left in tears after encountering the heartbreaking story of Annet, a 37-year-old mother of eleven children. When we arrived at her home, we were deeply moved by the overwhelming hardship she endures daily. Each man who had come into her life had left her with two or three children, only to abandon her completely, leaving her to carry the full burden of raising them alone. Her story is one of deep pain and immense strength—a woman striving to survive against all odds.
Annet lives with her children in a small, muddy house, its roof thatched with old grass barely keeping the rain out. The walls are weak, the floor is bare, and the children sleep directly on the ground without mattresses or bedding. There is no electricity, and the nights are long and cold. Hunger and hopelessness seem to hang heavy in the air, but Annet continues to do all she can to care for her family, despite having almost nothing.
When JFM arrived, it was a moment of deep sorrow and compassion. With limited resources, the ministry could only provide food for the family—enough to keep them going for a short while. The team wept as they saw the condition Annet and her children were living in, knowing that while food could help for today, their needs stretched far beyond what they could offer at that moment. The burden was great, but so was the conviction to keep helping, even if only one step at a time.
In the midst of this pain, JFM shared the hope found in Jesus Christ with Annet. They prayed with her and her children, offering not only physical food but also the Bread of Life. Annet listened with a heart full of sorrow but open to the gospel. The encounter reminded the team why they do what they do—to reach the lost, the broken, and the forgotten with the love and truth of Jesus. Though they left with heavy hearts, they also left seeds of hope, trusting God to bring change and restoration to Annet’s life and family.
