JFM chose Uganda as a focal point for our ministry due to the country’s profound and multifaceted challenges, which include extreme levels of poverty, widespread illiteracy, and a high number of orphans resulting from war and the AIDS epidemic. Uganda remains one of the poorest nations in the world, with significant portions of its population living below the poverty line. This dire economic situation makes access to necessities like food a daily struggle for Ugandans. JFM’s mission to provide food and spiritual assistance is thus critically needed in this context, where hunger is a pervasive issue.
Uganda’s education system faces numerous challenges, leading to high illiteracy rates, especially in rural areas. Limited access to quality education and resources hinders the development of many children, perpetuating the cycle of poverty. By focusing on Uganda, JFM can address this gap by providing physical sustenance and empowering individuals with the knowledge of the gospel. This spiritual education can be a source of hope, offering a foundation for individuals to build better lives.
The impact of war and the AIDS epidemic has left Uganda with a significant number of orphans and vulnerable children. These children often lack adequate support systems, making them particularly susceptible to poverty and exploitation. JFM’s commitment to aiding these children aligns with its broader mission to care for the most vulnerable.
