Ugandan Girls Dumping their Children to Old Grannies
Granny Elizabeth lives in the village of Nambeere in the heart of Uganda. She is a kind-hearted woman who has seen many seasons pass. Despite her old age, her spirit remains resilient, fueled by love and faith. However, life took an unexpected turn when her daughter, burdened by the struggles of single motherhood, made the difficult decision to leave her children under Granny Elizabeth’s care.
The burden weighed heavily on Granny Elizabeth’s frail shoulders. She found herself responsible not only for her well-being but also for the upbringing of her grandchildren. Days turned into weeks and weeks into months as Granny Elizabeth struggled to provide for the little ones. Her once peaceful life now echoed with the laughter and cries of her grandchildren, a constant reminder of her daughter’s absence.
Granny Elizabeth’s plight and prayer reached the ears of God as JFM came through to extend a helping hand to her in need. Touched by Granny Elizabeth’s story, we sprang into action, bringing much-needed food relief to her doorstep. Our kindness lifted a heavy burden from Granny Elizabeth’s shoulders, offering her a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness.
With each passing day, Granny Elizabeth’s faith in humanity was restored. Despite her challenges, she breathed a collective sigh after the support from JFM. And though her journey was far from over, she knew that with faith, love, and the kindness of strangers, she could weather any storm that came her way.
Saba Mathiew: I was born and raised in Uganda, where my journey of learning and service began. I attended Galikwoleka Nursery School, where a strong foundation for my academic life was laid.
