In a world where many are chasing money, power, fame, and survival, it is essential to ask the most serious question: Why did God create us? The answer is not in bank accounts or buildings. The Bible reveals that God created man to reflect His image. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in His Own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.” This means we were made to show forth His character—His love, kindness, holiness, and truth. Our existence is not an accident. God placed us on earth so that when people see us, they would see a glimpse of who He is.
Many people believe the purpose of life is to get married, have children, or earn as much money as possible. While these things are part of life, they are not the main reason we were created. God wants us to share His love and goodness with others. Jesus said in John 13:35, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” When we love, care, forgive, and help the poor, we are doing what we were made to do—showing God’s nature to the world. This is the true work of life—not building empires, but building people.
The heart of God’s desire is fellowship. God walked with Adam in the Garden of Eden. He created man not for religion, but for relationship. God wants us to talk with Him, worship Him, love Him, and live with Him. Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” This is why we are alive—to know God and to be known by Him. Everything else in life is secondary.
Sadly, many have lost this purpose. They have left families, countries, and even their faith in the pursuit of money. Some have died chasing things that don’t last. But money will not enter Heaven. What matters is your soul and your relationship with God. Ecclesiastes 12:13 concludes it well: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” We are here to live for God, reflect His light, and prepare to live forever with Him. That is the true reason we are alive.
