Whenever JesusFedMe (JFM) visits poor communities and tells the children, “God is going to give food and sweets,” a miracle unfolds before our eyes. The moment those words are spoken, the children don’t wait to question — they go running with joy and hope, carrying their plates like they already see the food served. In their little hearts, faith is alive and strong. They don’t doubt; they believe. Even before a single grain of rice is dished, these children are already smiling, laughing, and lining up — because in their minds, the food is already made, and God has already provided.
Some of these children come barefoot, dusty, and tired, yet they run faster than anyone, as if the hunger disappears just by hearing the promise of food. Others come carrying younger siblings on their backs — one hand holding a plate, the other balancing the baby. Their clothes may be torn, their faces covered in sweat and dust, but their eyes sparkle with hope. When you see them this way, it becomes hard not to cry. These children aren’t just hungry for food; they’re hungry for love, care, and the assurance that someone sees them and values them.
It’s not just the food and sweets that excite them — it’s the feeling that God sees them. When JFM tells them “God is going to provide,” they feel loved. They feel remembered. Many of them have grown up in homes where no one mentions God, where no one promises anything good. But here comes a team, in the name of Jesus, saying God hasn’t forgotten them, and for them, that is enough to spark joy.
As we serve them, sometimes their tiny hands tremble with excitement, and they eat like they haven’t had a meal in days, which sadly is often true. Some kids try to save a portion for their mother or a sick sibling at home. Their kindness and innocence shine even in poverty. These moments remind JFM why we do what we do. It’s more than feeding — it’s about planting the love of Jesus in young hearts. And every time we see them smile with a plate in hand and joy in their hearts, we know heaven is smiling too.
