Joseph comes from a humble background of five kids. He is the fourth. Two boys and three girls. His father is a typical peasant who finds it hard to meet the family dues due to the high levels of poverty in Uganda; this explains why Joseph is living with his grandmother, aged 80 years. Since she cannot support herself, it’s Joseph’s task to help her walk. Again, Joseph takes his grandmother outside to get morning sunshine, and again he is responsible for taking her inside in case rain surfaces.
When Joseph returns home from school, he cannot play like other kids. Instead, he quickly picks a jerrycan and visits the well to collect water, which has denied Joseph a privilege of social life. Despite all that, Joseph fixes time for books, and he excelled in his primary leaving examination with the first grade of 11 points and is optimistic of a bright future.
JFM has given the green light to Joseph to continue with education, and he will be a model to his peers. Joseph is 100% responsible for fetching water, cooking, collecting firewood, and others. In addition, Joseph is the safe pair of hands to help his grandmother, including cleaning her since she cannot help herself. Joseph’s grandmother’s condition is associated with aging, difficulties with hearing, cataracts, refractive errors, back and neck pain.
Joseph was born in a Muslim family, and he was named “Rahim,” but he converted to Christianity, and he changed his name from Rahim to Joseph. JFM has been visiting Joseph with basic needs, and now JFM is sponsoring him, and he is going back to school. Joseph, the poor boy, dreams of academic glory and is confident of achieving his dreams.
