Kakooza Yunus is a man of seventy-nine years, his face marked by time, sorrow, and survival. In 2012, his life took a dark turn when he was sent to prison, a place that slowly drained his strength and hope. Behind those walls, days felt endless and nights felt heavier than the chains on his heart. Many times, Yunus believed he had been forgotten by the world, and even by life itself.
In prison, Yunus endured treatment that no human being should ever face. He was humiliated, beaten morning and evening, and forced into heavy labor far beyond his strength. The abuse was brutal and dehumanizing, and as a result of the violence he suffered, Yunus lost one of his eyes. His body carried scars that told a story of cruelty, while his heart carried wounds far deeper than the eye he lost.
As the years passed, his body grew weaker, but the memories grew stronger. He often thought, “I will never leave this place alive.” Hope seemed like a stranger, and tomorrow felt like a lie. Yet in the darkest moments, when his strength was utterly gone, God was quietly writing another story—one Yunus could not yet see.
Each day felt like a sentence to death. The constant pain, hunger, and fear pushed Yunus to the edge of despair. Many nights, he lay awake wishing he would not see the morning.
On 30th June 2025, after many painful years, the prison gates finally opened for Kakooza Yunus. He stepped out a free man, not because his body was strong, but because God had preserved his life. What the enemy meant for destruction, God used to keep him alive for a greater purpose. Yunus realized that it was not luck, but grace, that carried him through the valley of death.
Today, Yunus stands as a testimony of mercy and redemption. After all the pain, all the tears, and all the nights he wished he would not wake up, he has now given his life to Jesus Christ. The same God who kept him alive in prison has healed his broken heart. Salvation has replaced despair, and hope has taken the place of fear.
Today, after all he has endured, Yunus has confessed Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, and his story now stands as a powerful testimony of redemption, hope, and new life. Hallelujah.
