JOHN
In the small village of Nakitoma, tucked away in a humble grass-thatched house, lives John, a 90-year-old man, alongside his wife, Esther, who is about 80. In his younger days, John was known as a strong and hardworking man, toiling tirelessly to provide for his family. His neighbors recall his unwavering energy and dedication, ensuring his loved ones never lacked. But as the years passed, time took its toll, and John’s strength faded. The once-powerful provider was now frail, struggling to meet even his basic needs.
When JesusFedMe (JFM) visited John, we found him in a heartbreaking state—worn-out clothes, without food, and with a face that carried the weight of many years of hardship. His thin body and weary eyes told a story of silent suffering. He and his wife had been living in deep poverty, depending on the little kindness their neighbors could spare. The joy and laughter of his youthful days seemed like a distant memory, overshadowed by the pain of his current reality.
But God had not forgotten John. When JFM provided food and clothing, something incredible happened. For the first time in a long while, John’s face lit up with a genuine smile. Though weak, his tired eyes sparkled with gratitude, and his voice carried words of heartfelt thanks. It was as though a burden had been lifted from his shoulders, a reminder that he was still loved and valued. His wife, Esther, was overwhelmed with joy, blessing those who had come to their aid.
John’s story is a testament to the power of kindness and the hope that the gospel brings. In his moment of need, JesusFedMe became the hands and feet of Christ, bringing not only physical nourishment but also the warmth of love and care. Through this simple act, John felt seen, cherished, and remembered. And in that smile—his first genuine smile in years—was a reflection of God’s unfailing love, proving that even in the later years of life, His mercy and provision never run out.
