JesusFedMe shines a light in the darkness for many lives, particularly in supporting girl child education.
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We give glory to God for the continuous love, care, support, and provisions provided through JFM. Education has numerous positive effects on individuals and communities. One of the most profound benefits is seen in the health sector, especially when girls are educated. A direct outcome of girl education is the delay of early marriages. Girls with secondary education are up to six times less likely to marry as children compared to those with little or no education. Consequently, educated women tend to have fewer children, leading to smaller, healthier families. This reduction in family size often results in better economic stability and improved health for all family members.
Education is a powerful tool for uplifting the status of women in society. When girls receive education, they gain academic knowledge and life skills that shape their self-confidence and self-worth. With education, they can challenge and change long-standing gender norms and stereotypes. For example, countries with higher female participation in schools often exhibit a shift towards more equitable gender roles in society.
Empowered women, through education, develop the ability to challenge and resist abusive and violent situations. Today, I share the story of Penina, one of the beneficiaries of the JesusFedMe ministry through school sponsorship. She is a neglected child who, at 18 years old, can manage household chores without supervision and prepare meals at home. She has learned many skills and activities since joining us in August last year. She had lost hope, and I had never seen her smile until recently.
JesusFedMe provided all the necessities this academic term to enable her to return to school. It was one of the happiest moments in her life as she received brand-new uniforms and all the required school supplies. We give glory to God for this. This year, she is taking her national examinations, getting closer to the finishing line. We believe she will be among those women who will transform her society using her testimony of what the Lord has done for her.
