My day began very early in the morning at 5:00am. I woke up quietly and made my prayer to God, asking for protection on the road and for His anointing to help us win souls along the way. Before anything else, I committed the whole journey into the Lord’s hands. After that I took a quick shower and prepared myself for the long journey ahead.
The distance before us was not small. A 514-kilometre journey is not a short one by any means. Yet we trusted that the Lord who sends us is the same Lord who keeps us safe. With faith in our hearts we began the journey, believing that God had already gone ahead of us.
Along the road we shared stories about the families we were going to visit. These are very poor families who live under worn-out tarps that can barely protect them. When the rain comes at night, the water passes through the old coverings and the whole family becomes wet. Children, mothers, and elderly people endure many cold nights like this.
Our hearts had wanted to help them before Easter, but we were limited and could not accomplish it then. Still, we kept praying and trusting God to make a way. Today we thank Him because the opportunity finally came, and we were able to reach them.
By the grace of God and through the kindness of generous donors, eleven families received new tarps. Tonight these families will sleep with dignity and peace. For the first time in a long while, rain will no longer disturb their rest. They will sleep like kings and queens under proper covering.
It was touching to see the joy and gratitude on the faces of the people who were present. Some elderly people were not around at the time we arrived, but we did not want them to miss the blessing that had come to their homes.
A kind and humble man named Ochokuru stepped forward to help us. With great willingness he helped install the tarps, even on the houses of those who were not present. His heart to serve others made the work much easier, and it showed the beauty of community when people care for one another.
I am sure that when those who were away return home, they will find a miracle they never expected—new tarps over their homes and food waiting for them. Moments like this remind us that God remembers the poor. Through the love of donors and the willingness of helpers, hope reached eleven homes today.
