At Miracle Medical Center (MMC), serving the community is not always easy. Sometimes helping people also means enduring criticism, misunderstandings, and unfair treatment.
Recently, a woman living near MMC became upset after stray dogs carried a dirty cloth onto her property from the surrounding area. Instead of coming directly to the clinic to discuss the issue peacefully, she contacted the police and filed a complaint against the medical center.
The police called MMC and demanded payment. In the end, around $150 USD was required from the clinic. Sadly, situations like this are not uncommon in Uganda, where corruption can sometimes turn simple disputes into opportunities for officials to profit personally.
Naturally, many people at MMC felt hurt and frustrated. The clinic exists to help the poor, deliver babies, treat the sick, and save lives. To lose ministry funds this way felt deeply unfair.
But even in that moment, the staff remembered the Word of GOD:
Romans 12:17
“Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.”
Instead of responding with anger or seeking revenge, they chose peace.
Then something unexpected happened.
Only a few days later, the same woman became seriously ill. Her condition worsened quickly, and she needed urgent medical care. The very clinic she had reported to the police was now the very place she needed for help.
At that moment, the staff at MMC faced a real test of their faith.
They could have refused to help her. They could have reminded her of the trouble and financial loss she had caused. They could have treated her harshly.
But they chose the way of Christ instead.
Luke 6:27 says:
“But I say unto you, which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you.”
With compassion and mercy, the medical team welcomed her into the clinic. They treated her with dignity, kindness, and care. No bitterness was shown toward her. No insults. No revenge. Only mercy.
The staff lived out the truth of another scripture:
Ephesians 4:32
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as GOD for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Day by day, her condition improved. Eventually, she recovered.
Through this experience, she witnessed something powerful: true Christian love in action.
MMC chose forgiveness over retaliation. Compassion over bitterness. Mercy over revenge.
In a world filled with anger and division, that kind of love stands out brightly.
And through it all, the words of Jesus were fulfilled:
Matthew 5:44
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”
She now tells people how wonderful MMC is.
