Greetings beloved,
Written by Ignatious Sseremba, director of Mashariki Home
Following the closure of the academic year 2023, through regular classes, tests, examinations, and upper nursery graduation, Mashariki kids performed well, and many of them were promoted to the following classes.
We’ve had a great year staying together with these little ones. The kids that are staying with us are ones with very poor backgrounds, most of whom have one or two relatives that aren’t even biologically related. Some kids have stayed with us for two years straight without visiting their relatives, so this time, my wife and I decided to visit every kid’s family. Two weeks now, every kid has visited a relative together with us. George, Hasifah, Travis, and the crew traveled through Kampala (Uganda’s capital) for the first time. Hasifah and George accompanied Travis to his Grandpa’s home in Eastern Uganda, where they will enjoy hunting and agriculture for a few weeks. They’ve partially been doing agriculture at my farm, where we produce food for ourselves and our church programs.
Emily will also visit his aunt on the island, where he will be able to see and learn on his journey to and from this island. Gloria, Esther, Emma, and the other group will stay with us at home because they don’t have anyone to visit; we believe we will have a great Christmas holiday together.
Even though we’ve released some kids for a short break, We still have our kids that came back for holidays from boarding schools, and this is why I’ve always found it necessary to install a few more bunk beds to avoid sharing.
We also visited Emily’s grandma, who lives deep in a village with four little kids in a mud house. Emily was the first person that I adopted legally in 2020. We feel so much concerned with whatever concerns him. I find it necessary to go ahead and put up a better one-room mud house for her grandma, one that is warmer and neat, one that is bigger or something of the sort.
I believe in God for support.
A lot has happened here at our home and in the lives of our people. So much has been done.
I want to thank God for making us able to do all this. I also want to thank JFM for providing me with resources that have helped me extend the love of Jesus to so many people.
I sincerely want to thank Mr. Bill Wegener for being a perfect project coordinator.
God bless you all.
Shalom!
